Bastidas was a blast from the past! I remember seeing them a few times around LA back in the day with other local bands at the time and It's really inspiring to see people who still keep the creativity alive and going. They have this dark experimental post-punk sound and even a bit of a progressive cumbia mix thrown in with some Latin vibes (made even more apparent by the drummers Luchador mask!) Their use of effects were really well placed and I thought went really with their tripadellic sound. I felt bad because I didn't have a professional camera with me at the time but the show was outdoors and I had my cell phone so I thought "The hell with it, let me use what I have!" After the show I had a chance to catch up with Sonia, the bass player, and talk about art and music! I told her how I felt about not having a better camera at the time and she said, "It's all good man, its the art that counts." Then we started geeking out over different photo editing apps and she encouraged me to go ahead and "Fuck them up!!!" Lol That punk attitude was really inspiring and mixed with their sound I thought, "Fuck it, lets see what we can do!!!"
